As a young boy, Allan Millora, grappled with self-doubt and apprehension. Growing up in a world where his true identity felt like a secret he must hide under the weight of societal expectations.
Being gay wasn’t easy. “I was ashamed of myself,” Allan recalls. “I was so fearful of what others might think of me.” He went through intense phases of depression and anxiety until he finally summoned the confidence to embrace his true self. “I decided that others' opinion of me does not matter as long as I am happy of who I am,” says he. Today Allan Millora is a celebrated photographer and event manager – and yes, a very special Taelor customer!

Born in San Diego, Allan moved as a toddler with his family to Philippines where he spent most of his childhood. Growing up under the care of his single mother, Allan Millora navigates a childhood split between two diverse cultures and the weight of religious expectations. Allan's journey of self-discovery began when he moved back to the US as a young teenager. Initially, he was very discreet about his identity. But he realized, in his words, “We only have one life to live so why base it on what others think of us. I believe people respect me more as I embrace who I am.” This Pride Month, we celebrate Allan’s courage and his unwavering spirit, honoring his journey from self-doubt to self-acceptance.

This revelation has also led him to launch the Hope Gala RI, an annual fundraiser benefiting LGBTQ+ organizations.
