Marine Layer Brick with Tan Contrast Varsity Rib Polo

I grabbed this Marine Layer polo in brick red with the tan/cream contrast and ended up loving how it looks. The Johnny collar and varsity-style ribbing give it a subtle retro vibe—people even called it a 70s shirt—and I got more than a few compliments. The lightweight cotton–modal knit feels soft and breathable, so it’s an easy choice on warm days. Raglan sleeves and the contrast cuffs add a sporty touch. It’s one of those tops I can dress up with slacks or linen pants, or just throw on with shorts and still feel put together. The classic fit worked well for me and felt comfortable. Very comfortable—pretty much what I expect from Marine Layer. That said, fit can vary by body type; a few folks mentioned the sleeves running a bit snug or the length hitting longer or shorter depending on torso. If you’re particular about the brick-red color or the open V of the Johnny collar, the look may not be everyone’s favorite—but the overall quality and comfort stood out. Overall, it’s a cool, stylish take on a polo: solid red with cream accents, short sleeves, and a breathable knit that feels well made. Different from what I usually wear in the best way, and an easy go-to when I want something comfortable that still gets compliments.
