Big brand designer starts his own clothing line

Before starting Modern Liberation, Gilbert Chen was an New York-based designer at PVH, the parent company of Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Warner's, Olga and True & Co. and licenser of Kenneth Cole. He started his career in outerwear design so he is known for his attention to detail — from print design, fashion engineering to comfort.
